Shooters!
Yesterday we kicked off the Berger Southwest Nationals in fine form. We had over thirty folks who were able to play hooky from work and join us on the line. As is usually the case here, in April, we had very moderate temperature's but we were deviled by a tricky little wind that gave up only one clean score all day.
In the sling division, yours truly nailed down the W in the first match with a 198-10X effort that just got by Pete Church's 197 and Justin Skerits 196 score. In the second I just got lucky and nailed a 200 with, hold onto your hats, 8 little X's! All I could say was thank god the 10 ring is as big as it is because I used a lot of it. For the last match it was almost as if the wind decided to show it's truly evil side as many competitors struggled to stay in the 10 ring. Peter Church did a masterful job of figuring it all out and not only fired the high score in the match he also grabbed the aggregate victory by 6 X's over your intrepid reporter. Nice job Pete, you truly were in a class by yourself.
In F Class we only had three participants but man did they ever have a battle. Rocky Felix took the lead in the first amongst the belly benchresters with a great 193 score but Battling Bill Berta came roaring back in the second to stomp a mud hole in the other two Musketeers. Bill backed up that dedicated effort by winning the third match of the day but that first match score came back to haunt him as Rocky held a steady pace and beat him out by a single point for the F class aggregate victory. Congratulations Rock!
Once Michelle sends me the full results I will post them as well as the across the course scores. Also I remembered my camera this time and put together a little pictorial that can be viewed by clicking HERE http://s254.photobucket.com/user/rcurtis48/media/2013%20Berger%20SW%20Nationals%20600%20Yard%20Championships/Berger600YardChampionships4-11-2013_zps6482896a.mp4.html?sort=3&o=0
