Don't know if this has been posted anywhere else here (haven't seen it if it was), but Sgt. Sherri Gallagher, who won the Nationals at Camp Perry this year, has just won top honors as the US Army's Soldier of the Year. This has been a lengthy competition covering all manner of military history, job proficiency, soldier skills such as land navigation, weapons (all types), combatives, etc.. Sherri won out over a final field of 11 other candidates, literally the best the army had to offer. Since she's been training so diligently for this competition (including taking her morning PT with the Ranger battalion every day), she's going to be taking it easy for the next three weeks. Less PT, more time to herself, much less pressure and less studying; she's going through Airborne school.
Congrats to a fine soldier!
