20 VT headspace

Is the 20 VT Headspace gauge proprietary to that case or can something else be used, such as a 17 M4 or 17 rem fireball or a 221 fireball.

I'm absolutely sure that the 221FB won't work, as the good folks at PT&G informed me that I needed to puchase a different gauge for my 20VT.

RJ

17 Fireball headspace gauges have .0004 difference between it and the 20 VT. No problem in my estimation and I’ve done it.

Formed or fired brass works (for me) as a gauge. You're working with a "wildcat" so you won't be buying factory loaded ammo. You brass will be one of a kind. (yours)
The tighter the head space, the less you have to move your brass when sizing. ;)

I use a fired 20VT case, measure the headspace datum with the Hornady tool, then size/bump all the brass accordingly. Simple, really, and you don't need any special or dedicated gauge to do it.
