20 VT Build ...Feeding/ejection

Howdy Boys and Girls,

Started out w a Remington 700 SA chambered in 22-250.

I am re-barreling to a 20VT.

What am I going to need to do for it to feed and eject?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Best
Tim

even with a blocked 223 mag well or magazine, you will probably only get it to feed at the most two rounds. Why not make it easy on yourself and just go single shot sled fed.

It may well end up that way .....and I am going to look at the options
All of my 20’s are singles it would be cool to have one feed.

thus the thread

The reason I say this is, that I have tried various ways to get a howa 1500 to fed more than two and it just has not jelled for me, so I either fed single or go with the just the two. Maybe you can get yours too do better in the Rem.

I'd take a look at putting a HS Precision Detachable mag system in it if you want to use it as a repeater. Their mags a center feed and they make one for the 223 which I think would work for the shorter 221FB case. I have one of these in my 223AI and it feeds very slick. I'll have to get some 221FB cases and see if they'll feed through my mags like I think they will.

Thank you .... is it in a Rem 700?

Detachable mag is where this is going for sure.

My 6.5 SAUM Would not feed until I used the HS precision center feed mag.

was the HS plug and play in the SA 700 or did you have to modify the stock?

thanks

I had them installed when the guns were being built so I can't say for certainty, but I don't recall my gunsmith saying anything about it and he didn't charge me for any stock work so even if there is/was it must have been very minimal and he's installed 4 or 5 of them in different builds for me now.

Save yourself some trouble and find a .221 fireball action or a 300 blackout action . They are already set up to feed the 20 VT.

Hal

What am I missing... could you clarify the difference. It is my understanding that the location of extractor was slightly different for rifles chambered in 221 Fireball to facilitate extraction of the shorter case or at least in the Rem 700 Light Varmint (early 2000's). Both the .222 and 300 blackout bolt setup is the same as .223.

Thanks
