20 tactical & Vihtavuori ?

I am looking on their website and they do not have info on a 20 tactical. They do have info on a .204 Ruger. Can I use this load data or the 20 Tac or should I drop back a couple of grains?

I wouldn’t think you’d have to drop back a couple grains. Maybe a grain. Just start at 204’s min and work up. Love my 20 tac!

The .20 Tactical is a wildcat which can cause companies to avoid publishing reloading data for them due to the potential for variations.

The .204 Ruger is obviously a commercial cartridge with SAAMI specifications and dimensions so data is usually available from many of the component manufacturers.

There is a practical 2 grain difference between the two cartridges so starting lower is the absolute best suggestion.

Hornady and Western Powders 20 Tac data.Also 20 Practical data is a good reference point.

Personally I used the 223 data for my Tac (9” twist 24” barrel) and found pressure signs getting towards maximum.
I did however find some very accurate loads this way.

I will add to the above. I use a chrono when working up loads. My rifle seems to have a problem with cratering on primers (firing pin/hole problem possibly)
That said I have a very accurate load with 50gn Berger and 40 Vmax using Vihtavuori powders N140 and N133 respectively

Hodgdon has loads listed for their powders. Ammoguide lists loads for their subscribers. Among them are loads for VV130 and 133. Ammoguide has no listings for 130 or 133, only slower powders. I would NOT use any powder or load for a 204 Ruger in the 20 Practical or 20 Tactical.
