So I had some issue with a new barrel I received. Sent it back to manufacturer for correcting.
As I'm new to the .20 practical my question it about Over all cartridge length
Here is how I measured my oal.
I'm using a nosler 32 gr. FBHP bullet
I removed my ejector from the bolt of my ar-15.
I have a 17 Cal cleaning jag I had cut the end square on and but it on my cleaning rod. Ran it down the barrel making sure it was on the bolt head. Mark the cleaning rod.
Removed the bolt carrier and dropped my bullet into the barrel. Iigbtly held it in place with a small pc of dowel rod. Ran the cleaning rod down the barrel till it lightly landed on the tip of the bullet. Then mark the cleaning rod.
So I came up with a case maximum length of 2.012" with that bullet.
I loaded up some rounds to test out tomorrow with a C.O.A.L. of 2.050"
My question is with out seeing and coal in and load data does this seem very short ..I was thinking it should be more like 2.20"..
Most people say there 20 practical has almost zero free bore ..it that is the case I can see my coal being this short..I just want to make sure this sounds correct ..
What kind of coal are you 20 practical guys out there coming up with..so I have something to compare with.
I also loaded up some nosler 32 gr FB Tipped
Bullet # 32851 and @ .007" off the rifling my C.O.A.L is 2.210"
Thanks for any feed back guys..
