20 MOA Rail Standard

Are all 20 MOA rails built to some standard? I think a better question is will they all give a true 20 MOA of elevation? I am trying to add more elevation to my .284 Match to get to one mile. Cannot find a 40 MOA for my Lone Peak action so I am using a 20 MOA rail with 20 MOA Z Rings. My NXS has should have 30 MOA useable MOA. Should have approximately 70 to work with but 62 is the best I can do. That is just barely enough and I would be maxed out on the scope. Don't like that. Am I missing something?

A little pricey, but a Cold Shot MOAB rail will give you up to 150moa and mounts to a standard picatiny base.

But to answer your question, the amount of MOA adjustment in Z rings is dependant on ring spacing. If spaced farther apart they will give LESS moa.

After further testing with several rails and the properly set Z ring I have concluded that 20 MOA rails are not built to a standard. All you can do is test them on the target.

Of course, you could also have an down pointing barrel I have one that's "up" and had to shim the rail -but it shoots fine.

What do you mean by a standard? 20 minutes of arc is 1/3 of a degree. I'm sure there is some tolerance.

As mentioned, you can adjust MOA on the Z rings by shortening (more MOA ) or lengthening (less MOA) the distance between them.
