20 hole barrel nut for AR 15 free float handguard

What is the proper barrel nut wrench to torque a barrel nut that cane with my free float handguard. The only way it can be tightened is buy using the several of the 20 holes that the gas tube goes through.

Edit: poor reading comprehension on my part. I misread and thought you were asking about a nut torque.

There won't be a specific torque. The range for ar15s that works pretty good is somewhere between 35-80 ft lbs. Once you are in that range, try to time(tighten) the barrel nut for the gas tube to go through without going over that torque range. If you can't make it, you can back the nut off and tighten again and try to make again.
I have ground a tooth off a standard ar barrel nut because I didn't feel like messing with it.
Once you get it where you think it should be, take the bolt out of the carrier and make sure the gas key can slide over the gas tube without any resistance.

If its a standard barrel nut or one that matches the pattern of a milspec nut, any regular ar15 armorers wrench will work.

If it won't line up the first time, loosen it, and do it about 5 or 6 times. The aluminum threads will stretch.

Mark, what handguard/battel nut combo do you have. i have several that may work....that i bought trying to get the Armalite fiber handguard off my AR.

Armorers wrench OR Barrel nut Crow's foot (with pins) .

Yes they fit in two opposing (180 degrees) holes.
The one linked to above with 5 drive pins for a 20 hole nut looks nice.
The offset from the center line of the barrel nut and the center line of the torque wrench drive need to be compensated for. Some just set for 90 degree angle and the force vectors will be close.

Its a Peresma or something like that. It is identical to the big round hand guard on the DPMS varmenter that was the first AR I ever owned. It has 20 holes that go parallel with the barrel and when the nut is torqued the gas tube goes through on of the holes to get back to the gas key on the bolt carrier. when i do a search for barrel nut wrenches I see some tha have 5 or 6 pegs that would go into these holes and the nut would be torqued till one of these holes lined up with the hole in the receiver and the gas tube would go in the top hole

A few

It was easier to just compensate for the increased torque arm length than to hold at 90 Degrees.

I didn't read that link before I answered Jim , that one in the link is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks to all of you!!!!! Ben will check before ordering!

I have several different sizes of pipe wrenches, but I think i will save them for pipes. This barrel nut has threads on the outside to attach the handguard with, so it would be ruined buy the wrench jaws.
