20 cal option using 5--8 grains pistol powder over 2000 fps??

Hi
I'm wodering if there are any wildcats easily formed that will perform to these critria.

20 cal using about 5 to 8 grains of pistol powder that will push the lighter common 20 projectiles over the 2000 fps mark.

This is just an idea I'm working on for close settled small acreages that have rabbit and fox problems over here. ranges would be sub 200 yards- 80% of the time it would be 50-150 yards ranges.
Expected action will probalby be a ruger hornet action as the barrel is screwed to the action rather that pinned like a HW60J is. But I don't have any action yet- so other action suggestion would be appreciated.

Want to reduce the ric-o-shay problems of shooting in the granite belt area with 22 rimfires.

Or
Would it be better for me to get a Lilja 17HM2 drop in barrel for my Sako p94S??
Anyone had ric-o-shays problems with the 17 HM2 or HMR when shooting in rocky environments.??

thanks later

Sounds like the 5mm Craig to a T.
5.0grns AA#9 will push a 30grn bullet 1900-2000fps from a rifle.
Pick up a Remmy 591 and convert it to c.f. and you will have a bunch of fun.

I'd go with the 20 cal. option with any case that can do double duty...Light loads for the settled areas..but the ability to load full power out in the real world...I had a 257 roberts sporter that was fun to shoot with a Cast lead gas checked bullet of 70 grains...the ricochet factor was never taken into account as I never used it without some solid back stop even when hunting..I ended up with 3 good loadings for that fussy gun ...light squirrel loads about 8 grains of Unique pistol powder..Had a nasty 100 grain hollow point full power loading for groundhogs/crows & a 100 grain spire point load for deer...It needed to have the sights adjusted for each loading..but not a real big deal..find a medium capacity case & try getting it to shoot both kinds of ammo..I'd be reluctant to go with a mini-case just for urban hunting..mike in ct

Get a 17 ackley hornet reamer and then throat it to 20 cal then open the dies slightly to suit the larger neck. You could also use the 22K Hornet reamer and send it to Pacific and have the neck and throat altered to 20 cal then use Redding bushing dies with 20 cal bushings and the seater should work but may also need 17 cal decaping rod and pin.

Ogre,
Just use a hornet or 221 fireball case and the 22 cal projectiles such as i described in the Aussie forum .22magnum projectiles they explode on impact so no chance of ricochet like that Irish bloke you know Ric O`Shay.

picked up a 218 Mashburn bee not long ago- will give that a run with pistol powder and see what it can do.
