I looked at the 20PPC, was talked out of it as there was not much if any gain from the 204R.

Whomever told you that is correct. Might be 50-100fps gain but the specialty bolt face and spendy brass kind of take away from the gains.
Nearly no load development and under half moa over a bipod and bag might sell it some but i'm certain if I cut a 204 it would be the same. I could do more load work and get down in the .2s im sure but for a 0-400 yard varmint blaster, not wasting my bbl life.

If I was running a 20 br I would probably do an 8 or 8 1/2 twist.
