20 BR or 22 BR?

Just finished putting together a 6mm BR and have another action that I want to build either a 20 BR or a 22 BR. What are your thoughts on this? Which would be the better performer. This is strickly for a rifle that would be used for coyotes and prairie dogs. Would use 40 grainers in the 20 and 50 grainers in 22.

Sir:
I have both, I have used the 22BR for a few years and it is great on the PD's and the people that I go PD shooting with always want to shoot it and yes I use 50gr with it. November 07 I got a 20BR Bat action rifle and have only shot it 35 rds. I crono'ed 10 rds. and it ave. vol. was 4060fps. It is suppose to shoot flatter than a 22-250. I was using 39gr. Sierra's with N135. Case forming for the 20BR is a breeze! I am waiting until this May to see how the 20BR does? I think either would be a good choice.

I'd do the 20BR for prairie dogs and use the 6mmBR for coyotes. I have three 20BR and along with several .204Ruger chamberings, much prefer the .20's for prairie dogs. I use the 39gr BlitzKing. While the .20's will work for coyotes I like a hot .22 or better yet a 6mm/243 for the 'yotes. Not knocking the 22BR as it's a fine cartridge too.

I have two 22BRs, one is an XP100 and the other a Rem 700 that thinks it is a bench rest rifle. .250 groups sometimes with 53gr flat based Sierra MKs. I also have a .204 ruger but don't really like the brass and size of the cases. Very small. I am in the process of building a 20BR. Might I suggest that if you can't make up your mind, set up a switch barrel action and get two barrels made up. Also the 22 cal bullet selection may be better than 20 cal. Woodman
