20 BR Bushing

What size. Bushing do I need to buy for forming 20Br brass from 6 BR brass

I use a Forster bushing die and I start at about .252 to .246 to .241 and finally to .230. Forster does not make a .234 or .235 which would be less of a step down to .230. I have only done one for a test, because I am still waiting for my 20BR barrel from Shilen. It is being profiled and chambered about now so I should get it by the end of this month. Then I will size more then.

Do a search and you will find more info.

Has anyone tried a .22 BR Full-Length size die as the intermediate and a .20 BR Full-Length as the final step?

After that, it would be the bushing one wants to use for future loads.

I use Lapua 6BR brass. Turn 0.003. 22BR body die. 22 Full length die. 20 BR bushing dies in two steps from 0.235 down to 0.227 Trim to length of 1.525 then neck turn to clean up doughnut. Loaded round ends with 0.003 hold on bullet. Seems like a lot of work. And it is. Takes me about 6 hours from start to finish per 100 rounds. All done old school by hand. Nothing electric except trimmer. My chamber is very tight. I'm using a Mullerworks 1x8 twist on Pierce Tube Action in Elesio tube frame. It's also a switch barrel set up for my 6x284. Hope this helps Scott

I have used my 22BR bushing full lenght die without the bushing, and expander/primer punch in place. I tried a full length die but it wrinkled the necks. It is still best to reduce 7or8 thousands at a time.
