Decided to build a 20-250 Impulse predator, as I wanted a .20 cal straight pull rifle to go along with my enhanced .243 Impulse predator rifle.
Since I have a turn bolt .20 cal rifle as a backup, I wasn't in a hurry to complete the job, but I cobbled the parts together and bought a large shank barrel from a fellow member here with the intention of having it contoured and rethreaded with small shank tenon threads to fit my Impulse small shank QC barrel kit, as Savage isn't selling the parts I need for the build.
I ended up bartering for a large shank barrel extension and recoil lug, so my build was progressing faster than I expected.
Acquired a stainless large shank barrel nut and I had all the parts needed to get it done, or so I thought.
It ends up that the large shank barrel tenon threads are shorter than the small shank tenon threads, so I couldn't get correct headspace.
I ordered the correct Die, threaded it longer, assembled, formed brass, set headspace, loaded dummy rounds and adjusted the two 5 rd AI magazines for reliable feeding.
The heavy barreled action fit into the stock very snug without any stock modifications.
It's not free floated by any measure and with a barrel that heavy and long, I don't think it'll effect accuracy.
Going to load some 55 bergers with H4350, mount the X50, sight it in and maybe get some feedback from a couple of coyote this weekend.
