Thats exactly what I would do and just use the appropriate bushing. You might have to get a 223 ai bushing die
Had given that a thought. You might have to get a 223 ai bushing die
I use the body die to initial form from 223 FC brass left by local police forces at our range. After that pretty exclusively use a neck bushing die to do my cases after fireforming to my gun. Ackley hardly stretches. You dont need s body die if your reamer and FL die is right. Ive been through probably 3,000 LC brass for 20 Pracs and 20Vt and have NEVER needed a body die.
Right On. Just do it your way. Everyone does things different. Just screws up your mind getting"to each his own"
I am looking for a set of 20-223 imp dies
I never had any trouble chambering my brass. Maybe just lucky with my die combination. The gun shot fantastic chambered with that reamer/and I sold the reamer as I got it from PTG and it came with that print. My expectation was LSherm would have the same experience I did.My comments have nothing to do with using a Body die vrs FL die. I bought a 20 Prac PTG reamer from Herrmanator and had a 20 Prac chambered with it got it home and wouldnt even chamber a piece of brass that was sized with my 223 Redding to .375 at the base. I'm 99% sure its why he has to use a body die because my guess it was chambered with the PTG reamer he sold me and when I mentioned that to him his comment was get a body die and sent me a copy of the print, well as you can see the print says .3769 at the base but obviously when a sized piece of brass at .375 won't even come close to chambering the reamer isn't even close.
I got my JGS reamer the other day and cleaned up the chamber with it now is all good. The only reason I commented was that if a chamber is chambered with the correct reamer and die combo a body die is not needed only time is in brass that is shot very hot in a Big chamber then its best just to throw that brass away which I have about 2 or 3 pieces out of approx 3,000 LC once fired brass.
This is the print of the 20 prac that was sent to me of the PTG reamer
This is dependent on whether you turn your brass and exactly what brass you use to form your cases. What I do is undersize the neck on whatever brass I'm using slightly, and then using a 20 cal Nk turn Expander Mandrel from Sinclair expand the neck to accept a 20 cal bullet. Then I load whatever bullet I want to shoot in the empty case. I measure the brass at the neck and buy bushings 1 thousandths and 2 thousandths under for my neck dies. What bushing size are you guys using with this round?
Like I said that print was atleast .0025 small at the base, a print can say what it wants but the actual size is what counts.I never had any trouble chambering my brass. Maybe just lucky with my die combination. The gun shot fantastic chambered with that reamer/and I sold the reamer as I got it from PTG and it came with that print. My expectation was LSherm would have the same experience I did.
After first firing I keep the brass with that specific gun and only neck size and bump shoulder there after.
