20-223 ai question

The 22-204 has slightly more capacity than the 223AI so my guess is the 20-223AI will have slightly less than the 204. The 20 Practical is so close to the 20-223AI with no feeding problems, no wasting components fire forming, hard to think of going AI.

I think I would stick with the 20 Practical if repeating is the goal in a standard Rem 700 or Savage.

However for pdogs you don't need a repeater. And a single shot follower works perfectly.

Why do you have to waste components to fireform, done right its very accurate.
Load and go shoot critters.
This isn't bad for fireforming.

If your satisfied with your fire forming loads for hunting, why bother building a 20-223AI your fire forming loads are basically 20P's

Sherm, thank you, pardon my ignorance, never heard of a center feed follower! Where are the, need to buy them NOW!!!
Call wyatts and see if they make one for a 223, I have on on my 30-28.
I know they make them for long action 700's.
Might be possible to trim one down from a LA to SA

But can that follower be used on it's own? I thought it was Wyatt's mag box that converts it to center feed and you use his center feed follower with that. I'm not sure you can just use the center feed follower all on its own without using one of his mag boxes along with it but maybe you can.

I dont recall, its best to ask Wyatts.
I'm curious if you could mill a WSM- Saum center feed follower down to fit a 223 mag box.

I have Wyatt's kits in numerous builds and Kevin's stuff always works well.

They cost a little more but if anyone wants a detachable mag setup instead of the standard BDL hinged floor plate the HS Prec. det. mag kit for 223's works very well with anything based off of a Ackley Improved 223 case and they're center feed as well. My 223AI has a HS Prec det. mag setup and it feeds flawlessly every time through the mags. The mags hold five rounds and they're barely noticeable, they don't stick out very much at all.
