1st. 6PPC LG Scope ?'s

I just came into a beautiful 6PPC LG. Talking to the builder Sid Goodling he say the Lupy Comp. and single screw Kelbys will put me on weight. I have seen scopes with crosshairs in the upper 3rd of the objective. Is this something I should consider and if so is that an option through Lupy or is there an individual that has been doing that mod for shooters......Any other scope thoughts that would keep me on weight........Thanks for the input...

Regards
Rick

Crosshairs in the upper part of the lens are for shooting longer yardages, but you will sacrifice some clarity usually as lens are ground with the very center of the lens being the point of inspection. Most likely with a 6PPC you won't need the extra travel as you probably will limit your shots to around 300 yards/meters. Another light scope you might consider( especially if $ is an issue) might be a Weaver comp model.

I thought the higher orientation of the cross hair for short range BR had to do with being able to keep an eye in some of the flags while being on target??? Thanks for the response....

It is.
Premier optics used to do this. Not sure where else it can be done.
I have thought about it several times. I can usually see the last two flags at 200 yds in my scope. It would be nice to see them at a 100

March Huh... 8)....Guess I better look into it while the price is a bit down right now. Thanks for the input........Rick

Looked into it......To much for me even at the promo price for the reticle. The 45X Lupy is 5oz. lighter and over 1K cheaper..... 8)

If sid said single screws and comp scope youre gonna have to trim weight with anything else esp a march. The high dots are very nice for br. Premier always did em for us back years ago when they were the leup custom shop. Prob void warranty now

T K Lee has put in raised cross hairs for me as well as a series of dots for elevation hold on Leupolds.

if you get a raised cross hair you will need special mounts or rings for 100 yd shooting if it is very high, or the scope will run out of adjustment.

I have a 35 comp with the retical raised by Wally Seibert. It is on a LV rifle and I have no problems with it at 100 yards.
It makes it nice for seeing flags. At 200 yards I can fit 4 flags in it and 2 flags in it at 100 yards.
The one thing that is hard to deal with is when you use your other eye to look down range then go back to the scope eye it takes a sec to get your focus on the crosshairs because they are raised.

Specs show the Leupold comp scopes weigh 20.32 OZ. The March fixed power scopes weigh 21.13 OZ.
