1st 6BR

Been shooting mag fed rifles built on Bighorn actions for a few years in steel matches, currently chambered in 6x47's. Very happy with the actions, approaching 9000rds on one of them, runs like a champ. Came across a good deal on a new/old single shot action with a coned bolt head, couldn't pass it up. It's cool to me it has Goddard Ent LLC stamped on the side, AJ Goddard has been making action for about 8yrs, this action was made before AJ changed the name to Bighorn.

Two of the steel matches I shoot are on square ranges, fellow Colorado member Hoser runs one of them. Max distance is 610yds. A single shot action/6BR will serve me well at Hoser's match. Gunsmith Jon Beanland will chamber it. Bartlein Heavy Palma 8 twist finished at 28", timed CG Extreme trigger.

I've shared my plans of the 6BR with a couple buddies who shoot the same matches I do. "what are you going to chamber, why....?" Oh, how I look forward to kicking their nay-saying butts!

Kevin(if I remember right)

The 6br will be perfect for that match. I never brought mine but it shoots as good or better than my 6.5x47. The coolest thing about the 6br is how easy they are to tune.

Nick the br guy who came and shot with you a couple of times.

My brother and couple friends shoot 6BR's. All report how easy the 6BR tunes.

Will be fun to see how the 6BR compares to the 6x47.

Hope to see you again at Hoser's match.

Kevin

It's hard during my season since I run the 1k matches out in Byers but I will try to make as many as I can. I also like to try and make a fclass match or two a year.

Have fun with the 6br it is by far my favorite chambering.

For now will put it in a skim bedded AICS stock.

Have Varget, 8208 and R15 for powder, Berger 105 VLD's and Hybrids, CCI 450's. Freebore .104.

No doubt we're fortunate to have so many options for matches here in Colorado. If the 6BR is finished in time and a load figured out, plan on shooting my 1st 600yd F-Class match at Byers in September. Don't tell Hoser, I'll be giving up his match for the F-Class match!

Received the barrel action from gunsmith Jon Beanland last week. Can't say enough good things about Jon, great guy to work with.

Started working up loads for it. I'm blown away how well it's shooting out of the gate. Been shooting 6x47's in field steel matches for awhile, I was told most likely the 6BR would shoot inside the 6x47, starting to see that as a possibility. Here's a few 5 shot groups at 100yds, prone, bipod, rear squeeze bag. Will start shooting these loads at 600yds soon. Not pictured is 30.5/Varget/105 Hybrids jumped .010, looks like the others. I'm having a blast!

That thing shoots my friend. Let us know how she shoots in a match.
