1K spotting scope ?

I am looking for a spotting scope for 1000m since I am using 5.5-22x56 Nightforce.

I was wondering if the Zeiss 85T FL with the 20-60x eyepiece can see 6mm holes at 1K ?

it's very expensive so I don't want to spend my money on it unless it works at 1K.

Short of sorcery, or possibly the one day in your lifetime that the conditions are ABSOLUTELY perfect(not just "regular" perfect), you are not going to see bullet holes in paper targets at 1k with any spotter. You just won't. It doesn't matter how much you spend, it's just not a realistic expectation. Options are:

1. use something like the Shoot-N-C targets
2. shoot steel targets where you can hear the hit and see marks in the paint
3. have a buddy in the pits mark your shots for you
4. target camera system

Good luck,
Erik

I''m with Eric. It's just not going to happen. I have a swaro 80mm hd. I believe 2 times in 6 years I was able to see 6mm holes and one of them times I had to know where they were first before I could pic them out on target. The scope you are looking at is really nice and you'll never regret spending the money on one. Goodluck

At 600 yds, when the conditions are right, with top of the line glass you can see 6mm bullet holes. With less than ideal conditions and less stellar glass and all bets are off. Expecting to do the same at 1k is asking too much.

I have a Vortex Razor 20-60x85 and at Williamsport at 1k I can just make out 30cal. holes if the mirage is not bad, but that's not to often.

I use an 82mm KOWA, and the only thing I've seen better is a Swarovski. I have not used it at 1000 yards yet, but with the right eyepiece I think it would work very well (I use the 27X eyepiece). I bought for the resolution, and it's good enough to pick up the jagged end of a pop rivit pull pin at 400 yards on a bright sunney day. Down side is that it's a little heavy and wants to be mounted on something very solid. I did compair it with a Lieca and the Leupold at the range one day, and I liked it a lot better

You are now entering the realm where a remote camera will shine.

that was what I thought also..

so if I get the GoPro 3 black edition what else would I need to send the wifi signal from the camera to my laptop ?

the camera has built in wifi so reciever and sender for the camera + reciever for the laptop and some antenna...

me and my friend google know everything... this is something my friend knows... but he knows many million pages of it :/

Not going to happen with any spotting scope. Shoot and wait for the target to be brought back.

no such luck here in Iceland... the only 1K range is in the middle of a lava field, no roads or anything and there is no staff on the range..

we have to hang our own targets and pick them up after we shoot...

I'll make you a deal on my Swarovski AT80HD with 20-60 eyepiece. It's likely the best 80mm spotting scope there is, and I'll sell it to you for $900 less than it would cost you here: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Swarovski-Aluminum-High-Definition-Spotting-Scopes/1438624.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dswarovski%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=swarovski&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products

if you bring it to Iceland I might buy it, but your discount will be added right back to the price in customs and taxes...
most things are expensive in Iceland, but buying scopes in stores here is cheaper than importing them.

;D

I've not yet visited your country, but I do plan to someday. I hope the economic situation over there has gotten much better in the last few years.

we had our recession like the rest of the world.. the rich lost some money, the rest of us... well life is just like before the recession :)

we are vikings, we are used to tough times, it just makes us work harder to shorten the wait for the good times ;)

we are listed as the best country in the world to live in, just put Norway in 2nd place... so the economy is just fine ;)
