1911 front sight

First I know this is a mostly a rifle forum, but I’m sure there is some good gunsmiths out there that can help me. I have a Gov. Colt 1911 with front sight problems. I had Bomar sights put on it (F & R). Rear is fine but front sight will not remain staked. When the smith put the front sight on he cut the top of the slide flat now I don’t have enough metal to cut a dove tail. I was thinking about opening the tenon hole and build a new stake in sight. Would you stake and silver solider or just stake?

Stake . Make sure a small bevel is present inside the slide . If not using an original GI ft sight , I would soften the sight . Some I've used are so hard as not to deform properly .
