1903-a4 springfield loads

anyone out there tried heavy bullets in their 1903-a3 or 1903-a4 rifles. right now, I have an outstanding load with 190 sierras and h-4350, but was looking into trying the 200 grain berger hybrid or 210 sierra (or berger). barrel is a 1-10 twist criterion--absolutely hammers!! thanks in advance

If you have an outstanding load why would you want to start trying different bullets now? On the other hand your 10 twist should handle any weight you desire.

I am more interested in the 200 berger hybrid. the only issue is the fact that it is a longer bullet, and being seated to magazine length, will that eat up too much boiler room in the case?

If this bullet intrudes too much on powder capacity, you can always seat them long, and single-load them.

If that is the bullet you want to try, buy a couple from the guys on the forum, soft seat them and see how much free bore and intrusion into the cartridge case you have. This will answer your question.

I figured I would make good use of that 10" twist barrel and shoot a longer/heavier bullet. I figure that if I can get say 2500 fps or so, with great accuracy, I would be fine with that. I really have no intention of single loading my ammo, so longer than magazine length would not be done, although I did think about that.
