185 Hybrid load working for the Jug?

Hi,

Can't seem to get more 185 Hybrids at the moment but can get about 500 Jugs. My load development has been completed for the Hybrid as that is what I could get hold of at the time.

What are the chances that my powder load will transfer from the Hybrid to the jug? Has anyone had experiences mixing the two?

The jugs just need to be good enough for club days - I can save my Hybrids for the Regionals. Sure I might have to tweak seating depth for the Jugs but thats no issue, having to work up a complete load is another matter.

Anyways not an ideal situation and I appreciate the less than ideal approach but circumstances are what they are. If the recommendation is to not bother I will just continue with my 6mm for club days and shoot the Hybrids for the Regionals.

Components for the .308 are;

Varget
Lapua brass
Fed 210s

When i was shooting Power Pro 2000MR powder i used 185 hybrids and 185 Juggernauts with the same powder charge, seating depth was different though.

Where did you find the Jugs? I'm short on Jugs now.

I also found that the load was about the same for the Jugs and the Hybrids. I'm not sure which I like better, but I've been using the Jugs this season.

185 Hybrid's longer base-to-ogive and has a longer bearing surface than the Jug(gernaut) so your substitution ought not have too dire a consequence.

Jugs're pretty forgving bullets, load spec-wise, part of why they're so popular I'd think.

Thanks guys - yeah I am hoping the forgiving nature of the jugs will make it worthwhile purchasing, I have completed all testing except seating depth with the Hybrids, including adjusting my tuner so I'm not overly keen on starting again.

.308 is new to me so I just want to keep it simple in these early stages, I could just stick with my 6br for club days but I would like some time behind the .308 and 185s to get a little more used to it and work on technique etc.

In my hands, the Juggernaut doesn't seem to care how much it's jumped between .010" and .040".

Somewhere in the "Forums" I read that the Berger VLD's and Hybrids did real well in a wide range of "jumps".

I recently picked up a box of 185 VLD Hunting (and Target according to Berger). Resulted in a < .125 MOA group at 300 yards (44.5 gr RL-17 in Win Brass with BR-2). Didn't seem to change at all with different seating depth.

Haven't chrono'd this load yet but it shoots so well I may not. It may be a case of "Ignorance is bliss" and if I I knew the speed I'd be inclined to fool with a good thing.
