180 vld's in the rsaum

I'm finally ready to start load development for my 7 rsaum. Barrel is a 26" 1-9" Rock. Throated for 162 amax at 2.995, so a bit short for 180 vld's but my amaxes haven't arrived yet. I'm looking for starting points for N165 and H1000. Also have H4831SC, H4350 and R17, but would like to use the cooler burning powders.

I had some REALLY good luck with the 168HVLD's and MRP and RL22 with my last 7SAUM. It was absolutely competition worthy and was a good killer too for ground hogs, etc.

So far I've tried H100, H4831SC, and N165. Seating 180 VLDs maglength in Alpha mags means they are jumping 0.050, but it doesn't seem to matter. No velocity data yet, but all three shoot 1/2 minute at short range. Looking forward to stretching it out a bit.

I had excellent luck with Win S780, which is now defunct. N560 was next best. This site has a cartridge guide suggesting H4831sc is a good place to start.

This one is a tactical style fun gun, and making it last for a while is much more important to me than squeezing an extra 50-100fps out of it. I'm hoping H1000 continues to impress, as I'm told it's relatively cool burning, and I happen to have 14 lbs of it!
