180 Scenars in 7saum?

I've got a 7 saum fun gun that I'd like to try some 180 scenars in. The plan is to seat them to mag length, given their reputation for being jump tolerant, but is there an velocity window that is working for folks?

I recently shot that same combination in a midrange match. It’s a potent combination. My average velocity at the 600 yard target (612 in actuality) was 2,372 so my muzzle was, IDK 3,100 ish?

One of the things you need to understand about the 180 Scenars is that they have the longest bearing surface of any 7mm bullet I know of, including the Berger 195 Hybrid. At mag length in a "normal" mag-length / factory reamer, your bearing surface will be WELL below the neck shoulder junction, thus placing it in the pathway of a doughnut that will surely come along soon, as well as reducing case capacity substantially! If you understand those two concepts and are willing to live with them, it could work out pretty well..

You are absolutely right Ben- they are seated deep in the case. I will have to keep an eye on the donut situation. On the bright side, this is stricktly a fun gun-trued up Rem 700, 24" Rock tube, Piercision brake, A3 heavy fill, feeding from Alpha mags. I'm not looking to brake any velocity records, but am more interested in finding a load that shoots well without alot of fuss.

I can’t (yet) steer them in the wind at 1,000 but I’ve always thought that in milder wind where you never hold outside the 10 ring, they are unbeatable. A much better wind caller has coached me clean with them at long range.

Ran a quick and dirty velocity ladder with H1000 and 180 ELDs and Scenars, in virgin R-P brass. 61-64gr in 0.5 gr increments. ELDs went from 2703-2812, with no dicernable node and Scenars went 2773-2829, with nodes at 62.5-63 (2783-2787fps ) and 63.5-64 (2826-2829fps). Neither hit pressure, and printed very similar groups
