Is anyone running a 6gt in a shorter barrel? If so what velocities are you getting? Specifically looking at 65-75gr projectile velocity.
Thank you. It will be a suppressed bolt gun for coyote hunting at night. Wanted the short barrel so I'm not catching it on everything in the middle of the night. Not a 6GT but I ran a straight 6BR Encore 15” barrel for the Hunter class at the MOA Cold Turkey shoot in Wyoming a few years ago it is an 8 twist and I could get 2500fps with the 105s then later switched to the 95 Berger’s and got 2700fps so I could be in the node my buddies with the BRX and Dasher were at. This was before the GT brass was available. It got me in the shootoff but I felt a little more speed would have helped me against the Dashers and BRX guys.Back to your question I believe 3000+ with your bullet weights would be fairly easy with an 18”
I’m surprised none of the XP guys haven’t responded to your question yet, are you building an XP or a suppressed bolt gun, perhaps an AR? Depending what your quarry is I might look at the 87 VMax with its .400 b.c. I think an XP in a 6GT is a viable idea.
Good luck with your project.
