Just wondering was some of you guys done for shorter barrel links on a 17 Remington I got a customer wanting to go shorter?
What are the speeds you're getting on your 18-inI have a 18” 17-223 in an AR build that only gets shot suppressed. For what my intended use of coyotes, fox, and anything smaller under 200 yards I am happy. Have not used it in the field but happy with accuracy. If I was to do it again or get around to a bolt gun I would go for a 20”-22” for added velocity to make up for the tiny bullets.
He's wanting to shoot up the current barrel that is a 17 Remington when we go to rebarrel it he will be swapping to the fireballIf going shorter with the barrel I would change up on the cartridge and go 17 Fireball. Burn less powder and get equal or better performance.
Do you have to remember what weight bullets and velocities you are gettingI've done 16-17" 17br's. While you lose efficiency you still get more performance than a smaller case and the same length barrel
