17 Mach IV Load Development

Hoser

I am getting ready to start some load development for my new 17 Mach IV rifle.

I am using Lapua 221 brass and Hornady 15.5 NTX bullets. Shilen barrel, Terminus action and Foundation stock.

I have reloaded a bunch for my XP-100 in 17 Mach IV, but all I used was 25-30 gn bullets. I cant find a lot of into with the 15.5 bullets.

Any suggestions?

19.0 grains N133 is what I use in my 17 MK IV, with a 20 grain V Max getting 4075fps. That load would be a good starting spot with 15.5 grn bullets, and work up slow from thier.

I'm showing 17.4 of H4198 with a 20 gr. Hammett. I have some 18 gr data, but all are reduced loads using Blue Dot.

I can’t add much if anything. Look at the 17 Fireball data and decide from there. The NTX should be good on length.
I am using AA2200 with pretty good results and it’s available in like some of the old stand bys.
When I get some 20VT empty I am going to try some 4227, if it works I am going to give the 17 a try also.
My 20VT and 17FB, 32-34 grain and 20’s is all they see.
