17 Mach II

Will we see ammo for this little round again? Have one and about a brick of ammo left

Talked to Hornady about a month ago and they said they are still making mach II ammo but in rather limited quantities. They have considered stopping it all together.

Its a shame, the M2 is a good little cartridge but over shadowed by the HMR. I'm afraid its destined to join the ranks of the "also ran" in the very near future.

Last fall I ran into a old friend at the club who had sold his rifle but "HAD" 1K of Eley so now I have 1950 rounds of Eley and maybe another 200 or so, a mix of CCI-Hornady.

In a pinch you can try 22 Aguila--does not alway feed well from mags but it does shoot ok and groups not too bad.
Beats having nothing to shoot.

Where have you got that information from, as they are thinking about not producing it anymore? I have seen several emails to the contrary.

I sure hope there will be more . I bought 5k rounds at 1.67 per box (close out) before I purchased my savage mk II . That lot is long gone . I am down to my last thousand . The last time I saw some it was 20 bucks a box . I would hate to see my go to fuzzy eliminator moth balled

Take a look at Varminter.com and look for an article by Eric A Mayer called .17 Aguila/PMC-an alternative to the 17 M2 for Hunting

He goes into great detail and plenty of pix of whacked ground squirrels and rabbits to make his point that they work quite well in the M2 and cause less meat damage.
