And the Hornet case plays well with a push feed action like a Rem 700? With so many 700's out there that would certainly make things easy for a semi custom Hornet build. You can always bush a 700 223 bolt to fit a hornet case, my original 17 badger on a 700SA has one.
Hornady made 17 Hornet brass a couple months ago. Still in stock at a few online places. They can't possibly run it very often, with so few rifle options available.I shoot a Ruger #1, 17HH. It shoots well with very, very little 'jump' or recoil. I don't shoot it much due to a lack of components. Brass is as rare as frog hair. I have quit buying other Hornady products because of the poor production of 17HH brass. It won't be long and I'll have it rechambered to something else. I don't like being manipulated.
I will do a search ASAP again!!Hornady made 17 Hornet brass a couple months ago. Still in stock at a few online places. They can't possibly run it very often, with so few rifle options available.
I was going to do the exact same thing , but when Lilja saw the groups I texted him he said he wouldn't touch it, it shot so well, very honest company maybe i'm too picky. If I were looking for a .17 Hornet, I'd probably look for a used CZ 527 at a reasonable price. If it doesn't shoot, I'd put a Lilja 1-9" twist 4-groove barrel on it and (budget allowing) re-stock it with an HS Precision graphite stock and bed it. That is what I did to mine. Shoots as well as one will find, regardless of price.
Dan’s a stand-up guy. A factory 527 in 17 HH is usually - with a little load work - a pretty easy .5 or .4 gun. That’s without bedding.I was going to do the exact same thing , but when Lilja saw the groups I texted him he said he wouldn't touch it, it shot so well, very honest company maybe i'm too picky.
Out of curiosity - what kind of groups do you get out of the one you sent the pics on?I was going to do the exact same thing , but when Lilja saw the groups I texted him he said he wouldn't touch it, it shot so well, very honest company maybe i'm too picky.
