17 hornet load info

Hey guys, I have a 17 hornet in a cz varmint on the way and wanted to know what powder, primers and bullets people are having the best luck with. I have several Nagel 25grs, 25 gr rem HP, and 20 gr vmax to try. I'm hoping to find a couple of loads to try in it: a reduced load to match a 17 hmr or wsm, and a hotter load for longer range work. looking forward to playing with the little round.

10.3 gr VV 110 20 gr vmax and Fed 205 M. Very accurate and 3,650 fps from 21.5" CZ American.

I have the same rifle and I run 9.8gr of LilGun for the 20gr V-Max and it runs about 3550 fps and is very accurate. It's my varmint load for crows, groundhogs, and Prairie Dogs. I also run 12.3gr of h322 with 25gr HP's that gets me around 3100 fps, it's my fox/bobcat and closer range coyote load.

Just out of curiosity what kind of groups do you get out of yours?

I have the wildcat, 17 AH. and shoot 10.4 gr. of H-4227 with a 19 gr. Calhoon bullet. Be very carful with this round as and increase of of .1 grs. of powder can put you from safe to sorry. Great groundhog round, point blank range to 270 + yards.

I run an Ackley Hornet, same only different, and use VV N120 and 205M's.

Just out of curiosity what kind of groups do you get out of yours?

Well under an inch groups. Probably averaging somewhere between 1/2-3/4 MOA. Good enough for critters within 300 yards or less.
