17 Hck Bee

Does anybody have any information on a 17 Hck Bee cartridge? I have a reamer but would like to get a print and info on making brass. I think the brass is made from 218 bee but not sure.

You may be correct. The reamer was made by JGS in 1983 and the info is hand etched on the reamer. It looked like an "H" but after looking at it with a magnifying glass I think it is a poorly done "A", the top of the "A" is very faint. Does anybody have a print or know where to get dies?

Graf & Sons show a set of Redding dies in stock. Start searching with Google there is a lot of info out there if your 17 Ack is the .17 Ackley Bee. You could contact JGS they might have some records on that reamer.
Good Luck

I will call them Monday when I started this today they were all ready closed. My reamer measures up to everything on the print except the base to shoulder length. The print shows 1.014" the reamer measures .975"

Thanks for the help

I think the mystery has been solved. The drawing that PDS found on the internet is mislabeled. Attached is a reamer drawing for a 17 Ack Bee and Redding has confirmed their sizing die matches the reamer print.

The 17 Ack Bee has a base to shoulder length of .985" and a shoulder angle of 30 degrees

I have probably 300 rounds of loaded or formed ammo/brass. Some fire formed some not. If you're interested PM me.

Should make a nice rifle.
Youngest daughters father-in-law has one in .218 Bee, I have one in .310 cadet and two in .22 rimfire.

They are nice rifles I have a 22 rimfire. It was the US gain when the UK told the peasants they had to get rid of them. I know or several hundred that were shipped to the US to avoid being scrapped.

That's one of the first rifle I rebarreled years ago, a cadet in 17 Ackley Bee. It's a fun little round. With that reamer you can also rechamber a Contender barrel in 17 HMR to the Ackley Bee...it works very well and makes a good little rifle also.
