My 17 AH is built on a 527 too. Barrel is 24" and I shoot AA1680 or Hodgdon Lil' Gun with 25 grain Amax.
Accuracy is amazing and I never imagined the velocity numbers I have seen from it.
Really does a number on prairie dogs.
Those are some very well fed whistle pigs.

I think PacNor may be what mine is as well. Had a 20 VT and the 17AH built about the same time. One was Pac Nor and the other Lothar-Walther.

I sent this group to Lilja and he said , leave it be, nice guy.Those head shots are primo, oftentimes that's your only target.Your brother must have had a good teacher. First group at 100 Federal american eagle 17 HH, second group after a slight elevation adjustment, threw one shot low right both 5 shots, stock CZ 527 american.

Im getting 3550 fps with 25 Woodchuck den boattails.

3810 fps with 20 vmax

As I mentioned at some point I've stretched the 17HH Hornady Superformance Varmint 20 grain V-max at 3650 fps out to 250 yards successfully , taking gh's and foxes, and coyotes.The furthest a coyote ran after a spun and run was 50 yards despite both lungs hit. Are you having similar experiences?I'd imagine the 25 grain hits harder mine did when they were available but not enough to make a difference.About 200 yards is average where I hunt, and in year 3 i'm happy, the 20 cal tags along, 204 if I anticipate longer shots , usually in hill country southern Ohio.A fun round for sure , insane suppressed drives gh's nuts.

25 gr is my favorite bullet for the 17 AH. It performs better on bigger game than Groundhogs.
