17-222

I'm in search of a HOW TO. When making a 17-222 cartridge, what is the procedure? Is it just one pass with a 17-222 fl die or is there more to it?
Thanks in advance.
Thad

I have had a 17-222 since 1967 but the barrel was used up so I rebarreled it to a 204 Ruger. My origional die set was a RCBS three die set, a FL sizer, a seater, and a combination form and file trim die. This all worked fine. I later added a Lee 17 Rem collet neck size die modified a bit and a Hornady seater die. These too worked fine. 222 cases through the form die then the FL die was all that was necessary. Neck turning was good but not required. DC

It is advisable to use an intermediate die to take the neck down so you don't loose cases. I have tried doing both ways, form dies and using just the seater to take the neck down and the form dies win every time.

Thanks to all. After speaking with Todd Kindler today, I think I'm leaning toward the 17 Fireball..... If Remington can ever get their brass out the door and on the shelves.
