168 VLD Hybrid & 284 Win load data

Does anyone have load data using RL 17 and the 168 VLD Hybrid? COAL is 3.09 I have some load data for the 180 VLD's using RL 17 but none for the 168's.

Looking for some myself. Not loading nearly as long but even at 2.980 I'd like to use the hybrid and have a starting point.

No such bullet as the 168 VLD Hybrid. There's the 168 VLD, 180 VLD, and 180 Hybrid.

With the 168 VLD and RL17 at 3.09 COAL in the 284 Win I'd be starting out around 49g then work up expecting max pressure around 53g, at least according to QL.

Thanks! I stand corrected. The bullets are 168 gr. VLD Hunting. I was thinking of starting somewhere around 50 gr. of RL 17 and 49 gr. is certainly close enough to that.

I plan on trying a number of bullets including the 162 A-Max. I've been a Barnes fan for years and am curious how the 168 gr. LRX's will do.

Sheldon, thanks for tip on Quick Load. I didn't know that software like that existed. I now have a copy installed on my computer. As if I needed something else to spend time on. It certainly seems that RL 17 wins hands down on virtually any other powder recommended for the .284 Win.

L have been shooting the 284 win for years and RL17 is by far the best powder that I have used. In my long barrel 27" 1-9 twist I am getting 2940 with the 168 Berger Vld .with Rl 17 52.0grs..
With the Berger 180,s I am using RL22, 52.0 for a velocity of 2783 fps. both loads are very accurate. My rifle has a long throat & my c.o.a.l. is 3.120" with the 168, and with the 180 it is 3.133".

It's a 168 classic hunter hybrid to be exact.

49.5gr of H4350 (ADI 2209) gives me 2940fps out of a 30" Brux, 1:8.8 twist with the 168vld. Accuracy is alright but I reckon I can improve it, going to back this load back to around 49gr and see what it does.
