162gr .284 Hornady NM AMAX Aluminum Tip

I just got back from a local gunshow with these curious .284 aluminum tipped 162gr projectiles. The best I can tell they are the old Amax bullets before the polymer tipped came around. Does anyone have more info on these? And possibly load data for a 7mm RemMag?

Do they measure roughly 1.590 ? The standard 162 Amax measure 1.440 I believe. The aluminum Amax bullet of same weight were definitely longer.

Yes. They measure 1.597 +/-.001

Yep those are Very old 7mm A Max bullets. So the New A tip is nothing new to Hornady, Just recycling old idea's.

Last time I had those bullets was I believe in the early 2000s. Can't remember exactly but I think I may have rounds some loaded with those 162s. They had a lower BC but very close.
