155gr TMK

Anyone have any luck with the Sierra 155gr TMK ? I ran 50 or 60 outta the box I bought thru my .308 with the best group being 3/4". While it's only a factory sporter, this gun has shot several honest 1/4" groups in the past. I tried Varget and CFE 223 starting 1 1/2 grs below book max to a 1/2 gr past and it netted one 3/4" group and a few 1" groups. All rds were jumped 0.20 as that's as close as I could get them while still having some ( 1/8") bearing surface in the neck.

All TMKs I shot, including the 155's you're using, have to be seated as close to the lands as possible for optimum accuracy. I would close the jump to about 5 thousandths if I were you and try them again. I use the 155's in my 30-06 and they work pretty well once the seating is correct using H4350. 308 I would try Varget.

I saw some videos of guys shooting 22LR's at 500 or 600 yard making hits on a 4' X 8' target. if they can do that with a 22 LR you can hit a 1500 yard target with a 175 SMK.. The longer confirmed sniper shot in Vietnam was about 1280 yards with a 308. (Steve Suttles I believe made the shot.)

jump 155 TMK some more they are a more VLDish design from the old SMK. they will jump alot and be fine.

What does a 22LR have to do with the question he asked. He is not asking about any info on the 175smk.

My case won't hold the bullet at .005 off. I loaded three that's 0.10 off and 3 that's 0.50 off to try, but have 0 faith that these bullets will shoot in my gun. I probably should just drill a hole in them and use them for fishing sinkers. I believe I'd get more satisfying results.

dont just try those seating depths work your way back up to .120 jump in .010 increment shooting a 5 shot group to give your self some room

I may try that just to burn them up , but these are the worst grouping bullets I've shot thru this rifle. I've had much better results with old 125 and 130 gr sp hunting bullets I had on hand. Berger 150 fb's shoot very well in it, but I'm on a quest to find something WAY cheaper to shoot. These sierra's were a good deal so I bought a box to try them. Next up are some TNT 125's that are in the mail. Not sure if they like jump or not, but I've seen several post about them shooting well out of factory rifles.
