hey, saw on hornady's website that they have a new load for the HMR. It's a 15.5 grain bullet with a .115 BC. They never mentioned the speed of this new offering but using some (super) simple math i'm guessing around 2650 possibly 2700. Now using the ballistics calculator on their web site that gives (2650 fps) you a 8.2 inch bullet drop at 200 yards on a 100 yard zero vs. a 8.5 inch with the 17 v-max
Specs-wise its not much different from the 17 v-max only this new bullet doesn't have lead. Personally i think its great they're coming out with a new offering but it's so close to the 17 v-max that i wished there was something else that might be a little bit more fun to play around with. Like maybe a 23-25 RN or SP at 2000. IDK, what do you think?
