Does anyone have any load data with this bullet/caliber combination? I have plenty of info for 140 grain, but don't know where to start for the 147's. My available powders are Rl23, RL26, and H4831. Thanks!
A friend of mine started shooting them and he loves them. However, the trick to getting them to shoot, according to him, is having the proper freebore. He states that they have a VERY LONG bearing surface. I believe (not positive) that his freebore is .200! Having had 2 / 6.5 x 284s for competition, I know a bit of how that cartridge works. Of the powders you have mentioned, I would focus on RL-26. It is within a hairsbreath of the burn rate of H1000, which is the correct burn rate for that cartridge using a heavy bullet with a long bearing surface.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm a relative newbie and I have no idea how much freebore I'll have. Do you happen to know his charge with RL26?A friend of mine started shooting them and he loves them. He was using the 147s in his .260A.I. and was using RL-23. His name is Tom Holbrook. He is TomHolbrook43 on this forum. PM him and he will be glad to help you..Thank you for the feedback!
