143 eld-x in 260 rem.

Has anyone run these? Looking at trying them. Just worried my freebore will be to short? .118"FB with H4350. I heard they are decently accurate.

I tried them in my 260 . I didn't really pursue it because I'm way to short in the throat for this bullet . I just picked a load and shot a few , I didn't do any work up at all . they showed potential for me , being under an inch from the start . this is in a hunting rifle .

EDIT to add ;

I have a box of 89 + the one I used to find my lands , so 90 bullets total . if your interested let me know . Jim

I have been running the berger 130 ar hybrid but for some reason they jumped up in price alot here locally. And i just wanted to try them. I have some brass on its way and will report back next weekend when i can get out.

I only shot a few of these in my .260 and they shot great. I currently have the 147 ELD-M loaded up and they shoot great @ 2825 fps. The ELD-X showed great accuracy in my buddy's 6.5x55AL, also. But, I am not a bench shooter either. You might try some Re 26 with them, if you want great velocity.

ran them for a while loaded to AI mag length over H4831sc. it wasn't a fast load but was a steady .5moa load as far as I wanted to shoot it. killed a couple caribou and a couple deer before going to a lighter bullet to pick up some speed. I was getting 2700fps from a 22" barrel suppressed. they work great on deer sized game but at ranges under 200yds we experienced some fragmenting, but that was kind of expected with the long range design.

Ok so i was able to get out and do some testing. It went well. Never hit max load but i did find a node from 42.4 to 42.6grs of h4350. They shot good at 100 so next i will take it to 1k and see how it does. I called hornady last week and asked about seating depth recommended, they said start at .020 off the lands so i did. I put the gun in a new stock and bedded it. Found out after 3 shots the screws come loose at 30 inch lbs so i was messing with that too but got them at 40 now and they hold tight. Here are the specs 260 rem savage action shilen prefit with .118" freebore. Peterson brass cci br2 primer, 42.5gr h4350 143 eld-x CBTO is 2.215" -.020". Avg velocity with virgin brass was 2800fps and es of 21. This is the first group off a bipod and sand sock, unfortunately the only time i could get out it was 98 degrees so i feel like this could be tightened up. Im thinking of playing with seating next then neck tension. The shot with the x was the fisrt shot on a clean barrel. Orange dots are 3/8".
