.14 Squirrel

Thats One Sexy little mother…. Leads to a lot of questions???
What bullet, how many grains something that small use . What velocity?
Who makes the small hole barrels, cleaning rods, brushes?
Any groups.

No 14 but I did load for a family members 17 squirrel in a Martini, very interesting cartridge. I cant remember exactly my load data because I sent it back with everything for it but it was somewhere around 8.0 grains of AA1680 I used.
 
I have only fired a couple of test rounds through it so far. They were a 10 grain bullet over 7.5 grains of 1680. Can only guess at velocity but it should be near 3500. It takes parts and people from all over to build a .14 but it can be done. This is my third one on a XP-700 platform. The others are a .14 Hornet and a .14/221

So who’s doing quality .14 barrels these days?
 
Very cool. If you start shooting groups or figure out velocity and such please keep this post updated. Im fascinated with smaller cartridges and Im not sure it gets much smaller.
 
No, the bolt nose is not coned. The barrel has a small cone cut on it that allows the extractor to catch the rim. That is a sako style extractor. I have called you before my first .14 build. Thank you again for the help
