14/221 walker

Looking for sources of tooling and loading for this caliber seem to be all old threads on here can any one help me ?

PTG makes the reamers and will have the dies as well soon.

We have bullets and blanks in stock. Out of the brass right now.

What’s the process for barrel cleaning?
Same as anything else, once you source your ridiculously expensive 14 cal rod and some $15 a pop quality brushes.
Just takes a bit longer since the brush and 3/8” patches cannot carry much solvent.
FWIW, I would try AA 1680 as well, almost universal small case powder, works very well in my 14 Walker Hornet and 17 CCM.

I've moved to just chemical and piano wire to pull the patches. We used to carry the rods, brushes, and jag. They were not inexpensive. Same goes for my .10's and 12's. Works great.

30br, what weight bullets are you wanting to shoot in your 14/221 Walker? What barrel length are you running and what twist rate are you running? Is it a Stainless or Chrome Moly barrel?
I do the overwhelming majority of my 14-221 Walker testing and shooting with lead core coated bullets. I very seldom use solids in any of my 14's so my load data for those is very limited.

Let me know more about what your looking to shoot and I think I might be able to help you out.

Tommie in regards to your question "What’s the process for barrel cleaning?".
I personally would say that is highly dependent on what barrel you are using for your 14 caliber. Is it Chrome Moly or Stainless steel?
Are you shooting coated or naked bullets?
What twist rate and what land configuration are you using? Are you asking about strictly the 14/221 Walker or another 14 caliber cartridge?
I very my break in procedures depending on those 4 key factors for our use here.

I'm sure you will get a variety of answers on this but I can let you know what we use on our barrels here if you let me know what your using. Having said that we do the majority of our testing and shooting on 14 Hornets, 14 TCM's, 14/221 Walkers and 14/221 Fireballs.

We've dabbled in 14-218 Bee's and 14-221 Jet's but did not do extensive testing with them.

Wish you the best of luck on your project and as always stay on target,

Carl C.

TRSR8, we normally sell our carbon fiber 14 caliber cleaning rods as a package for 1 cleaning rod, 1 brush and 1 jag for $60.00. I apologize if that is "ridiculously expensive". We have to make everything for the rods and jags in house and components for high strength carbon fiber rods in those dimension are expensive. We build the cleaning rods so that they can be rebuilt if the bearings or carbon fiber rods are ever damaged and need repaired.

In the past we sourced traditional cleaning rods through Dewey and we struggled a great deal with bent rods here for our use. (We run a lot of our test barrels out to 28"). They might still be able to build you a rod if you contact them. They have always been a great company to work with.

Wish you the best of luck on your upcoming shoots,

Carl C.

FWIW, nowhere did I say anything about your offerings. My stuff, I believe, pre dated you. Back when Eichelberger was still around my rod alone was $70 without anything, supplies were a challange, but hey, nobody went down this road to save money
Hell, I’ve lately dropped $160 on a Stiller RFBR rod, hardened, melonited, in a carrier so zero issue with quality maintenance equipment.
