Sorry about not mentioning. It is an AR in 300Blackout. 16inch barrel and to be honest I don't know velocity my Chrono hasn't worked in a long time due to damage from muzzle blast.

I have an older rifle that I picked up in a estate sale, (Ruger 77) 30X47, the one made on the 300 Savage case. It has a 10" twist barrel 24" long. I shoot 125 Nosler ballistic tips with 42 grs IMR 4895 and get 2850 fps and it kills deer bang flop. I have shot 150 Sierra and 155 Berger VLDs at between 2600 and 2650 fps with 42 grs IMR 4895 for deer and they also do well but the 125 BT drops them in their tracks 99% of the time.

Call Ty at Barnes. He can tell you. i have done some testing for Barnes, due to my location, elevation, having the proper cartridge etc...they will be able to tell you what works. I did not do testing on 30 cal...but they have exhaustive research.

I only use those bullets. 130 Grain TTSX
Savage Bolt "10 Twist" 308 Winchester

8208 Powder
Wolf primers
Lapua Brass
130 Gr Barnes TTSX
Most accurate and hard hitting deer load for the 308. Runs about 3100 fps, like a laser out to 300 yards.

Those 130gr Barnes are awesome, I just wish they weren't a buck a piece, when I can afford them, I shoot them in my 308, 30-06, 300WM, and 300RUM they are all 12 twist 30" barrels, given my velocity obsession I prefer the 110s, but the 130s are just as adequate, they travel @ anywhere from 3500fps from the 308 to 4300fps from the 300 RUM all with easy sub 1/2 moa.

Left to right:
125 Speer TNT
125 Nosler BT
147 Winchester FMJ
150 Sierra MK
130 Barnes TTSX

Long for weight. No need to worry about "overspin" because there is no jacket, they (TTSX) are solid copper construction.

I loaded a 30X47 this deer season for my brother. Had some 110 tipped Barnes, but did not get time to work up a load with them. I worked up a load that was very accurate using 125 gr. Hornady SST's, 42 gr. of H4895, Rem. BR cases and 7 1/2 Rem primers. MV was 2930 fps. 3 bucks and 1 doe were shot with this combo. The wound channels were impressive. I am not recommending the load to anyone, just saying it did an outstanding job in my brother's rifle. I started with a much lower charge weight and performed a ladder test to determine the optimum charge weight, then fine tuned the base to ogive measurement for best group size. Being a hunting load, I did not start into lands, but .005" off. We may or may not try the Barnes after seeing the terminal performance from these less expensive SST's.
