is the 123 scenar that much better than the 123 smk at long range? both shoot well as far as accuracy and will be used for 600 to 1000 F class. thanks for the input 260 rem 26 inch bbl.

Isn't the answer to this question dependent on the twist, cartridge, barrel, and other factors that are unique to each inividual rifle? I can't see how there can be a generic answer to this specific question since every rifle is different.

My answer to your question would be yes, they are that much better. I use them in a 260 as well. I use the 108s for coyotes out to 500 as they expand better with the higher velocity. Never could get the SMKs to do as well as the Scenars.

I disagree with dennisinaz, constructively of course. I have had great success over the years with SMKs as have thousands of other competitive shooters, I have also had very good luck with the Lapua bullets. In my 6.5*284 I shoot the 139 Scenar and the 142 SMK equally as well, however ogive sorting hasn't been necessary with the Scenars but they also cost more. In my 6.5-06 it prefers the 123 Scenars while my 264 WM prefers the SMKs, so I think it boils down to not what you like but what your gun prefers, as far as the bullets,...there both top shelf ;) Oh as a side note as I was working up loads in my 6*284 I noticed there was only about .0005 difference in seating depth between the 105 Scenars and the 107 SMKs, meaning the gun seemed to like about .012 jam and while load testing I never had to change the Redding comp seating die when I would switch between those two bullets because the difference in seating depth was less than .0005
