120-125 grain 6mm bullet

I was just poking around the internet and found these by Precision Ballistics custom bullets. Has anyone tried these. I am new to this so I am guessing it would be ideal in a 6x284 or something with quite a bit of capacity. Again I am just trying to gain knowledge on this sport. Thanks for any insight

Very Respectfully

He makes the heavy 6mm bullets heck I am wondering how that works. What twist barrel would you need to stabilize them and at what speeds...would they hold together....He has the length of the bullet on the site I cant recall but its long for sure

Where are the 120-125 gr 6mm's? I only see Precision Ballistics making up to 115's - - maybe I am missing something.

Robert,

Home page, scroll all the way to the bottom, say`s they need a 7 twist.........

It would have to be pretty high wouldn't it? In a 7 twist would you have to run them at lower velocities to keep them from blowing up

what about high velocity 3100+ in a 1-8" twist?

I just recieved an email from Don himself,

I have a very few customers who have talked me into seeing how heavy I could make a 6mm bullet, and therefore I know that I "can" build up to 125gr. I personally can only go to an 8" twist in my 6mmBRs and have shot my 113gr without any key holes, but the groups opened up from below 1/4MOA to 3/8MOA. I decided not to even try my 115gr or heavier unless I had a gun suited to shoot them. Since I can't actually shoot my 125gr, I have to simply apply the formula for G7 BC in Bryan Litz's book, which gets close, but without proper testing is sort of my "best guess". That said, I would guess the G7 BC on my 125gr VLD would be around .302. I'm figuring the diameter to be 0.24345", the tangent ogive to be 10, the boat tail to be .175" x 10°, The meplat to be 0.005", the OAL to be 1.355" or so. I would shoot them around 2500 - 3000 FPS if you can. The BR case wouldn't allow much past 1700 FPS. Not sure what you can do with the -06 case. These would be built on the 1.290" J4 jacket, which I have had on order from Berger Bullets since 3/5/13 and they project will be 4-6 weeks out every month I call them. I can build them whenever I get my jackets, but no idea when to guess that might be. Thanks for checking!

I wonder if these would work in a 6-06 with a 1-8" twist. RL33 and the 105gr berger is giving me ~3300FPS in my ladder testing. I would think 2900-3000fps with the 125gr bullet?? I have shot the 115gr berger vlds and they stabilized just fine in my rifle.

These 125 grainers are no longer than the new DTACs or the 110MKs, 8 twist should work just fine. I have no problem shooting the new DTACs in my 8 twist.
