111gr 6mm Tubb

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of having a 6x47L built up and was planning on running 105-107gr pills in a 1:8.. but the 111gr just might be the ticket... but what barrel will I need to stabalize these projectiles?

According to the info I find you should shoot like a 7 to 7.5 twist, seems fast.

I have shot 7's and 8's with no problems at around 2950-3000 fps.

Just make sure that the 8 twist barrel is a true 8 twist.

More shooters than just me had pressure problems with 7 twist barrels. I would never go tighter than a 7.5" twist 6mm barrel.

My experience with the 6x47L is in a .237" bore 8-twist, and a .236" bore 7.5-twist. As you'd expect, the 8-twist will handle more powder with DTAC 115s than the .236"/7.5-twist will tolorate. However, I feel that the 40-50fps lower velocity the 7.5-twist produces is a bargain price to pay for the accuracy I'm getting w/115s in the 7.5 compared to how well they shoot in the 8-twist - and I'd been more than satisfied with the results at 1000yds. out of the 8-twist. Both these barrels are cut-rifled, and the actual twist rate is as advertised.

The 1:8 will be a cut barrel and as such should be a true 1:8, it sounds to me like they should work, All I've gotta do now is work out how to get some to Australia... Ah the red tape, gotta love the red tape.

Thanks for Link FroggyOne2.Will sinclairs during july be selling the 111g tubs bullets and should they stablize in a 1 in 8 twist 24in 243 barrel.

Since DTAC 115s are well stabilized in a true 8-twist bbl, I'd see no reason why the new 111s won't be as well.

thanks for info Lynn, I also noticed that berger are offering the VLD bullet with a thicker jacket, were thease bullets made to help prevent so called blowupps when bullets were run over 3000fps or was there any other reason for making the VLD Thicks, Have you tried the 115g berger VLD in a 1 in 8 twist 243, I was trying to find best bullet for 600-1k shooting in my 243 24in barrel with a true 1 in 8 twist, the berger 95g vld shoots very well in my blaser 1 in 10 twist 243 barrel so i was hoping that the 115g vld would shoot in my blaser 1 in 8 twist 243 barrel, paul.
