110 smk jump

Hi, I'm about to load some 110 smk in my 6mm creedmoore. What are you guys seeing is the best jump or free bore for this bullet? I measured my lands and a when i'm touching the lands, I only have about .125 of bore rider engaged in the neck. Any advice ? My Ogive when touching is 2.247" COAL is 2.926"
Thank you in advance.

I ran the 110s in a 6xc and jumped them .025”, they shot lights out from .025” off all the way to .040” off (I didn’t bother testing any further as that would put the base of the bullet into the neck/shoulder junction). I usually like to have 1 caliber worth of bearing surface inside the neck. If I understand you correctly, you only have .125” of bullet bearing surface in the neck of the case?
If that’s true I would try .100-.125” jump in increments of .005”. Hopefully you can get them to shoot and just set it at .100” jump and forget about it..

Its not an actual measurment but a side by side comparison. Why do you suspect these things are hanging out so far?

These 110 SMK's have a super long radius. To get to the lands compared to a 108 ELD they have no choice. when you shot yours did you do a comparison to see where the bullets were seated in the neck?

They shoot great for me at .010" off. I had another rifle that shot well at about .018" in.

How deep in the neck are they seated ?
I had a .150" free bore chamber, I don't have that barrel any more so I can't say for sure. But it was more than enough but without getting down into the doughnut area. If you have .125" in the case you have not a lot but enough.

My reamer is a .095 FB, but I throat the chamber out to keep the bullet just in front of the donut area. Mine is shooting well at .015 off.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

It does. Thats why I posted about the Warner die. When I was doing research on what dies are out there, I was looking at features on them. The way their bushing was made struck me as being a benifit. I posted about it in another thread to see what was said and if that was trully a good feature for that very purpose. Its a bigger deal when firing the 115 dtac, because it seats deep, almost through the neck into the powder chamber.

Im jumping them .005" in my dasher, they shot the same at jumped at .010", They seem to be petty forging in my gun.
I held off on testing them until I found out more about whats acceptable. I'm going to load some at .015 and go shoot them. Hopefully I get good results. I tested a couple other loads and bullets. Both did exceptional. 108 Eld and 115DTAC.
The DTAC was a noticeably bigger boom, but i found a lower speed as well a higher node that shot the same. I'm going to continue with testing but I have to say this, getting support feom Ruger for buying new factory parts is a bit lacking. I sent Ruger CEO a message we will see what responce comes from that. I definitely feel that these rifle manufacturers need to be supporting their buyers who are using them in competition a little better.
