110-grain Bullets in the .270 Win. for Deer-Size Game

Two 110-grain .270 bullets available are the Sierra Pro hunter and the Nosler Accubond. I'm wondering whether they are adequate for deer-size game--deer and pronghorn. They can be driven to 3300 fps from a .270 Win. and should provide flat trajectories, even with their lower BCs. Does anyone have experience with either at .270 Win. velocities or higher?

Short answer is Yes, I shoot 110 gr TTSX Barnes with 59 grs of RL-17. 3550 fps out of a 23" barrel. It's not over pressure but they're smoking. Basically flat to 300 yds. Out of your choices I would use the Accubond if you can't find Barnes. DRT every time.

I agree with Larryh128. 110 TTSX is a great bullet for mid size game in the 270win. No matter the distance, it just works !

I've also used 130 ttsx in a 300winmag @ 3,550 fps.
A lightweight TTSX at high velocity never disappoints. and you get a decent point blank range. What's not to like ?

There was a fellow that wrote for the Penna. Sportsman Magazine ( can't think of his name) but he was a big 270 Win. fan. He used the Sierra 110 SPTFB, for deer and groundhogs with good results.

I have been loading the 110 accubond for deer for my daughter but not quite at full velocity, She hasn’t had a shot on a deer yet so I can’t comment. But according to the research I did I dont think I would use either the sierra or nosler at those speeds, the nosler was designed for the 6.8 spc. As far as the sierra I would email their tech dept. for what you are looking for I would try the barnes.

@ john 800 & the OP,,.. The AccuBond is, a "Tough" Bullet and "Down Loaded", a Bit you should be,.. FINE !
I used to, Shoot Coyotes with my .270 Weatherby Mag. at 3,500 FPS, using, the Hornady 115 gr HP's and that, Bullet, would "throw" Stew Meat ( Chunk's of, Bone, Meat and Hide ) for 15-20 Yards behind, the Yote shot, upon exiting the Shoulder / Base of, Neck, area, at ranges of, 300 Yards or, less .
I would NEVER think of, Hunting something that, I'd want to Eat with, lighter Weight, HP's or, Soft Points, in a .270 at the "normal, High Velocity". Stay with, the thicker Jackets of, the 130-140 grain Bullets, when using them, on Big Game,.. IF, you want to, AVOID huge Craters and Blood Shot, Meat !

I have been shooting the Sierra 110g pro hunter(seat very close to the lands) for a while, 58g of Win 760(9 1/2) and 57g of R#17(Fed 215).
Velocity in my old ruger boat paddle is 3300.

IN the 110g weight range, all 110's are very accurate including the 110g Barnes TTSX(.050 bullet jump).

110g Pro hunters always penetrate on broadside shots and my favorite is on diaphragm shots. 110g Barnes ttsx penetrate from all angles.

Even the old 110g Hornady HP are very accurate with the same loads for varmints.

Strange that all three of these bullets have the same point of impact in my Ruger, while this is just the opposite with various 130g Bullets....go figure?

Thousands of deer have been killed with 243 bullets less than 100 grains. A smoking fast 270 bullet will easily kill a deer with proper shot placement.

The pro hunter is a pretty stoutly constructed cup and core bullet, but your concern is understood.
