107 SMKs

Here is my experience with two savage/criterion bbl 6brs. My daughters 6br iis running the 107smk at 9 thou into the lands and my other 6br is running them at 12 thou off. Both are using same powder charge/primer combo so i think its going to depend on your specific gun.

my dasher liked to be JUMPED 30 thou. would not shoot any wear else w/ 107's out of a kreiger 8 twist. dogdude

Agree 100%, but as a rule, SMK's like to be off the lands a little, but on some guns like the above, they like to be in a little.

I just found out almost by mistake one of my guns liked a load .050 off the lands (A-Max's). Using Berger Hybirds on one of my guns, they definetly tightened up .030 off, and I just tried this to see if it made a difference! I have since decided seating depth is just as important as finding the powder load!

So as soon as your there on your load, try different seating depths to see if it makes a difference!

Thanks guys! I have a fairly good load it averages .4in @ 100 but I wanna try to get that little bit more out of it.

Try a simple seating depth ladder test seating 5 bullets each .015' .030. .060 and .120 all off the lands like Walt Berger recommends and the target will make it easy to decide.
