107 SMK's, pointed?

Have heard a couple of times that Sierra was pointing their 107SMK's from the factory. Any truth to that?

Also, anyone shooting them from a factory Remington 9-1/8 twist? I'm planning to shoot H4831.

Depends on when they were manufactured but both of the last 500ct boxes I used are pointed, as are the new 142 6.5mm bullets.

Have not shot them from a 9+ twist.

do the pointed 107SMK's have a different part number? Who is selling the new pointed version?

This came up at the first of the year for me. I had some 123SMK in 6.5 cal and tried them in my 6.5-47L. They shot well so I ordered a couple more 100 count boxes. They were the same Mfr. number but pointed. They bullets were polished out nicely and, upon measuring base to ogive on 1/2 the first box, were very consistent. I got almost thru them and ordered a box of 500. You can imagine my disappointment when they were the old style bullets. Brownell's took them back even though I had opened the box and I was able to get one of the extremely nice ladies at Midsouth to verify their stock was the new pointed bullets before they shipped them.
So (impossible to say long story short now) you will need to ask the vendor when they got the shipment in. I would think most of the old stock bullets have rolled out but you won't really know for sure.

The last 6 boxes of 500 107s I have purchased in last 3 years were pointed, the numbers on the boxes isn’t any different to no pointed.

Cheers Rushty
