105 hybrids and .236 bore barrels?

I am shooting 105 Berger hybrids in a BRX, "regular" .237 bore 5R Bartlein 8 twist with excellent results (33gr Varget, 450s). Curious to know if others have shot this bullet in tight .236 bores with good results?
I might add that while I have had a couple of regular 6BRs in the past and liked them, the BRX just blows me away with its accuracy.

I shoot a 236 krieger 4 groove with a 125 fb 6 dasher and the 105 hybrids. My current lot mic quite large in diameter and are working well with 31.7gr H4895 br4 primers and a 50 thou jump. For f class they will hold the x ring in vertical at all ranges fairly easy in calm conditions. Avg velocity is 3015fps with an ES of 9 fps. Will be testing a new lot that are smaller in diameter this weekend. I expect to up the powder a whisker but all else should be the same hopefully.

The difference in a .236 is the lands will be .0005" taller. Thats not much , especially when you consider I have measured bergers from .2430"-.2439" at the pressure ring. ::)

How long of a barrel? That seems really fast. Why .050" jump? They didnt shoot any closer?

Both my Dasher & BRX have only had .236 barrels on them and shoot excellent with the 105 Hybrids & VLD's. Next barrels will be the same.

Alex, i tested from jump of .060 in to zero and they shot basically the same .2 but i moved in is when they started to hammer .008-.012 but the was that lot tried two more different lots and they wouldn't shoot no matter where you seated them.2+ was the norm. They must have changed something. Now i see people having good luck with them. It maybe time to revisit them …….. maybe…….. All were shot in Brux .2365 barrels also …..jim

30 inch barrel. I read about the fatter hybrids liking a running start for some reason and the figure of 60 thou was brought up. So I started at 50 for no reason and it worked. No need to change. Like jim says, they will shoot well but if I want them to be 1000ydBR competitive I might look at a jam or closer to the rifling. F Class Im not shooting for group, they only have to hold inside a 1MOA ring with as many shots in a 1/2MOA ring inside that as possible if I read the wind right. I tested the velocities over a magnetospeed too so am inclined to believe it more than a chrony that relies on watching the bullet pass over its sensor. Come ups out to 700m off a ballistics chart for this speed are pretty much the same with actual come ups too. Maybe I got a fast barrel, but its a ripper so far.

Jim, even if I slugged it I would have a hard time measuring the bore off the slug.

Alex, i never found it to be that important anyway, i could never tell the difference on the target……. jim

All 3 of my 6 Dasher's sport .236 bores (Broughton, Rock Creek and Brux)and all are 30 inch finished and used for 600 and 1000 yard comps. Shooting strictly 105 Hybrids in all 3 and powder charges are all within .1 of a grain. They shoot better than my mortal soul can and I'm having a lot of fun with them..

Yep, when you get a good one nothing matters. I had a Broughton with a loose spot 8" in front of the chamber. The slug would get very loose there and it collected fouling there. It shot extremely well. I have ones that feel perfect and don't shoot.

I chambered a bartlein 6ppc unlimited barrel for a fella that had a loose spot about 8 inches in from the chamber, and then again a few more inches down. That fella shot a 1.525 agg with that barrel in Kansas city at a short range unlimited railgun match. so much for the loose spot!!! As long as it isn't loose at the muzzle or crown, I don't worry about it. Lee
