105 AMAX'S

HI,
I AT LEAST HAVE TO TRY...

ANYONE USED THE 105 A MAX FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN KILLING PAPER...
I CALLED HORNADY TODAY AND THE MAN TOLD ME "GUYS IN TEXAS LOVED THEM ON DEER" I HAVE ONLY CONFIRMED KILLS ON DAWGS SO NOTHING BIGGER.
THANKS

I use the long range bullets i.e. VLD for woodchuck hunting here in PA with great results. My favorite is the Horandy 105 gr. A-Max piped by a 27" Shilen out of my 243 Ackley Imp. Driving them around 3290 fps. Also had great success on PA whitetails.

Many pictures of successful hunts at this link. http://www.pbase.com/m16800/toys

Good Shooting!!

K. BROWN SET A WORLD RECORD WITH AMAX'S,105'S) AND THATS WHAT ONE OF MY 6BR'S LOVES .....26" 1 IN 8 HART .262 NECK, HS,JEWEL TRIG, TRUED REM 700/DOWLING
I'VE JUST SHOT HUNDREDS OF THESE THIS YEAR AND WANT TO TRY UM ON
MULE DEER BUT WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE IN BR LAND HAD AS WELL...
THANKS

I have shot more of the 75 gr A-Max's in the 22's, than the 105's in the 6 br's so far, and they have done very well on hogs, both the ground type and the squealing kind.
Folks might say that a 22 don't do well on pigs, but I'll bet they never tried the 75 grain A-Max on them either.....

They have also have done a great job on deer, so the 105 can only be better.
I will use then in my newest 6br on groundhogs ............

105A-MAX bullet is my favorite all-round bullet in my 6mmbr for hunting, target shooting and plinking.

My load is 105gr A-MAX, 29.7gr Norma 203b and CCI 450 primer.
My hunting experience with the 105A-max bullet is on graylag hunting.
The bullet expand perfekt and kill graylag instantly, longest graylag kill so far 400meter), and penetrate deeply enough to shoot double.

First I want to apologize for using cap's on this old post....its the same as yelling on the Internet....

second thanks for the reply's from an old post I still love a maxes

they are very good especially when you sort them in your stoney point....

i shoot the amax's in my fast twist 6br and they do great on everything from ground squirrels to mule deer, just dont punch the deer through the shoulder[just behind]-Dave

I had to look it up too:

Dictionary > G > graylag

graylag

,Science: zoology) The common wild gray goose,Anser anser) of Europe, believed to be the wild form of the domestic goose.

This is good stuff. 105s on a goose, yeah that'll give em something to digest. When I learned it was a goose I couldn't stop laughing.

Yep, graylag is a wild goose.
Graylag hunting is a very popular hunt here in Norway.
The graylag hunt is quite a challenge, they are hard to get close to, and you usually only get one shoot before they fly far away.
A hit with 105 A-MAX in "low" speed do not destroy the goose completely, the bullet hole is small entry and a 1"-3" exithole.
Here is a pic of a graylag goose I hit with 105A-MAX at 300yards.
You can see the broken wing at the exithole.

And here is a pic of my rifle and the equipment I use on the graylag hunt.

terje338: Are you allowed to use suppressors for hunting?
Suppressors are legal to use for hunting in Norway, and I use suppressor on all my rifle.
Shooting a rifle without a suppressor feel like driving a car without a exhaust system.
